OVERVIEW:
Working as Full-time Trade Compliance Specialist, you will be a key player in executing Fastenal's import/export compliance program and facilitating the efficient entry of goods from overseas. You will be tasked with working directly with our Overseas Logistics and Accounts Payable teams when identifying products to be imported, ensuring accurate classification of goods, and filing appropriately to update legal and regulatory requirements. Additionally, you will be responsible for working collaboratively with other global customs and logistics teams in achieving Fastenal's strategic global compliance goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
o Working with U.S. Customs to clear Fastenal's Import product from around the globe
o Providing compliance training and education resources for relevant internal stakeholder teams
o Managing an active audit program for reviewing and correcting gaps in the import program
o Reviewing, auditing, and approving bill payment for service providers and US customs
o Coordinating with Fastenal's broker to support a duty drawback program
o Coordinating directly with Customs Officers in resolving specific entry issues if they arise
o Assisting various departments with Harmonized Tariff Code classification information for Fastenal products
o Ensuring proper regulatory compliance for all entries
o Communicating with various departments on upcoming regulatory changes
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:
o Possess a valid Customs Broker License through CBP
o Possess or are working towards a degree in Business, Operations, Finance OR have import, export, or logistics work experience
o Excellent written and oral communication skills
o Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite and possess basic math skills
o Highly motivated, self directed and customer service oriented
o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities
o Exhibit strong problem solving, deductive reasoning and decision making skills
o Work independently as well as in a team environment
o Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment
o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork
o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)
PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Recognized trade compliance certifications (e.g. CCS, CCE, LCB)
o Prior Fastenal work experience
